At Douglas Skills Trust, we believe education and skills development provide the foundation for long-term success.
Our Skills & Learning programme is designed to help young people and adults develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to progress into education, apprenticeships, employment or self-employment.
Working alongside schools, colleges, training providers, employers and community organisations, we aim to provide accessible learning opportunities that combine academic development, employability support and practical skills. Our approach focuses on supporting the whole person, helping individuals overcome barriers, build confidence and achieve their potential.

A key part of our approach is working alongside schools, colleges and training providers to support learners who may be at risk of disengaging from education. Through mentoring, personalised intervention and ongoing encouragement, we aim to improve confidence, increase retention and help more learners successfully complete their education before progressing into employment or further training.Vocational Skills Development

Construction Skills Taster Sessions
Participants will have the opportunity to explore a range of practical construction skills, including:
Bricklaying
Carpentry & Joinery
Painting & Decorating
Plastering
Plumbing
Property Maintenance
These introductory sessions are designed to build confidence, develop practical skills and provide an insight into careers within the construction industry and the wider built environment.
Practical learning enables individuals to develop real-world skills while exploring future career opportunities.
As Douglas Skills Trust develops, we will expand our vocational offer through community outreach programmes, employer partnerships and future training facilities, creating practical pathways into employment and industry.
